My dream came true!

We had our 16 weeks doctors appointment this morning and my wonderful doctor said we could do an ultrasound today if the tech wasn't busy. The ultrasound tech prefaced this ultrasound by saying we should keep the tags on items we buy until the gender can be confirmed at 20 weeks. After scanning my belly she said there is no doubt that it's a boy and we can take the tags off. I am elated and want to share the news with everyone.

Cincinnati

My first MLB game.
The biggest Fla-Vor-Ice I've ever seen. We also had some other good food.
We were face to face with this guy. When we got off the elevator he got on. That made my day!
We went to Ikea after the game and got stuff for the nursery.

16 weeks

Hard to believe the night before I asked David, "Do I look fat or pregnant?" After putting on this outfit there is no question.

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

Baby Dreams

Yesterday we went to pick up the crib and I LOVE IT! Thanks Kate! I can't wait for David to put it together, when he does I'll post pictures. I checked for recalls on this crib and there aren't any, which made me very excited. After dinner we went to Babie'R'Us so David could become familiar with the big items on our registry and while there I tested strollers and car seats. You have no idea how hard this decision is. I found a stroller that I like very much and an infant car seat that is comfortable to carry, even though it is a little heavier than others with uncomfortable handles. I'm so stoked about the stroller I wanted to take it home and play with it. It's a jogging/all-terrain stroller and David said he would get it for me if I start jogging. Not going to happen, so I'll wait. Then we listened to the baby's heartbeat before going to bed and it was moving all around. Very cool to listen to it get loud then go away and come back again. Also the baby's heartrate is slowly decreasing, which means it's growing. To top off this wonderful night I had a dream that we went to our doctor's appointment on Monday and ran into the ultrasound tech that invited us in to find out the gender of our baby early. It took awhile but I found out the gender, well I did in my dreams. We'll see if it's correct in a couple more weeks.

Solicitors

Every single day this week and last there have been solicitors coming to the door. I used to go to the door because it used to be neighbor kids selling candy or fruit but not anymore. I have successfully avoided the solicitors until today. One got me just as I was coming home from the grocery store. The up side is our furniture downstairs and the stairs are clean, the down side it took two hours. I really want a no solicitors sign now.

Birthday Fishing Trip

Here I am driving the boat at 6:30am while they get all the fishing stuff ready.
Here's David reeling in the first fish of the day.
Wow, look at that wiper!
David would like to use this lure as a mobile in our nursery.
And I caught the biggest fish of the day, while David caught the smallest fish. We ended up with six fish by the end of the trip. The trip ended when I got sea sick.

15 weeks

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now out measure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. My fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb.

Prenatal Yoga

This morning I went to my first prenatal yoga class at the hospital I'll be delivering at. Usually it takes a day or two before I'm sore after starting a new exercise routine, but it's only been a few hours and I'm already feeling it. This class had an aerobic, yoga warm-up then cool down with just yoga. I really liked the cool down part. I don't think I've told you guys how much I like this hospital, all the classes that David and are I taking are free and so is this yoga class just because I'm delivering there. I came to really appreciate this when I found out that labor and birth classes at another hospital would $75 per person and yoga would be $90. Well, so far there are only two of us in the class so I feel like the session is individualized. Hopefully I won't be soo sore next week.

Week 14

Our adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

WALL E

Great movie, I loved it! Younger kids didn't get parts of it, I heard them asking their parents, "What does that mean?" many times throughout the movie. Worth seeing, but can wait for DVD. We've been going to the movies more often because we are a part of the 5 buck club with Kerasotes movies. http://www.fivebuckclub.net/ If you live in the Indy area you should sign up for it.

Stop Worrying

"Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. So I tell you to stop worrying about what you will eat, drink, or wear. Isn't life more than food and the body more than clothes? Don't ever worry and say, 'What are we going to eat?' or 'What are we going to drink?' or 'What are we going to wear?' Everyone is concerned about these things, and your heavenly Father certainly knows you need all of them. But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you. So don't ever worry about tomorrow. After all, tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:8b,25,31-34)

If you have talked to me recently then I have probably expressed my worry about being ready for the baby. I keep praying for Him to take this worry away and lifting my worries to Him, but I still worry. I think this is a part of my "irrational fears" that the pregnancy books talk about. I feel a little better since I have ordered diapers from g diapers and that my friend is giving us a crib. Another friend helped me feel more prepared by going with me to start our registry so I would have things on there that we need. Wow, this post just helped me realize that He is providing the support that I need. Thanks!

Sewing

When my mom and grandma came to visit they brought me my grandmother's old sewing machine. She got it used when she got married so it is much older than me. I finally tried it out and I can work it. It doesn't have a manual so I'm proud of myself for figuring out how to thread it. My mom showed me when she was here, but I can't remember anything. I have a greater appreciation for sewing after learning to crochet and knit. I have an instant product when sewing, while crocheting and knitting may take months for a semi-finished product.

End of First Trimester Dr. appt.

Yesterday we had a another doctors appointment and it went well. We didn't have any questions and she was happy with hearing the heartbeat with the doppler. My uterus has grown up to wear I can feel it, about 3 inches below my belly button. Wednesday was the first day in a long time that I woke up without a headache and yesterday was the first time I was able to brush my teeth without gagging. I'm feeling pretty good, I hope this is what all my friends have been talking about. I should start to gain the weight that I lost now and then some. Our next doctor's appointment will be in 4 weeks. We will have the ultrasound to find out the gender between 18 and 20 weeks.

Happy Birthday!

Today David turned 30 and I've got a lot of surprises in store for him. To start he got his birthday present this morning, a full day of fishing with a guide.
