Follow-up Doctor's Appt.

Today we went on my follow-up appointment and things aren't working like they should. So the doctor is putting me on a heavy duty medicine that will keep me out of work for the rest of the week. Hopefully this works, if it doesn't then I will have to have another D&C. I will go back to the doctor on Thursday to make sure everything is going ok.

Movie Review

I feel like it is my duty, now as a blogger, to review movies for the rest of the world. I went to see Juno and had high hopes for a good comedy. I went after work today so there was only one other person in the theater. I actually liked it for this movie, that meant I could laugh out loud and cry without trying to hide it. Well, I liked the movie, but I like most movies as long as they have a happy ending. The movie let me know that I am getting old. Since the movie's main characters are in high school they use slang and I had no idea what they were talking about at times. It's hard to believe but it has been 10 years since I was in high school, 10 years! Warning to my friends this is not a movie that you want to see with your parents, there are scenes that may be uncomfortable.

Blogs

As a way of coping with what's going on I have been reading others' blogs and sometimes emailing them. While going through others' blogs I found this touching video that you must watch. 99 balloons

In the past week I have also found that the body is truly amazing and confusing. In the 10 weeks that I was pregnant I lost 5 pounds but gained 6 inches around my waist. In the one week of not being pregnant I have gained 6 pounds and lost 3 inches. I find this an impossible mathematical problem. Good luck trying to figure this one out.

Dorito gets to keep his eye!!!!

Last Wednesday we took Dorito to the vet for his annual and she suggested that we take him to the Ophthalmologist to check out a black dot on his eye. She thought it may be melanoma and he may have to have his eye removed. Well I took him to the eye doctor today and it's just his eyes getting old (iris atrophy). The doctor just said he will just need to squint to see better.

After surgery

I had a D&C yesterday and it went well. I was in a lot of pain last night but am feeling much better today. Before surgery my doctor came in to talk to us and to see if we had any questions. I asked if she would be able to tell us whether the baby was a girl or boy and she said that she would not because it did not make it to 12 weeks.
My doctor feels that I may have a blood clotting problem which may have caused this miscarriage. Because the baby had a strong heartbeat just over a week ago she feels that a blood clot may have passed to the placenta. She stated that I could have blood tests done to see if this is an issue but issurance may not cover it because I have not had multiple miscarriages. If I do have this problem and do get pregnant again then I will need to take two shots a day of a blood thinner.
The hospital has cremated the baby and there will be a mass service sometime in the future. They were wonderful to me and it helped that I knew the nurse taking care of me. The hospital provided us with a cloth memory envelope and a knitted angel.
I feel that I am truly blessed with the wonderful family and friends that we are surrounded with. Thank you for all of your support.

Update at 10 weeks and 5 days =(

Saturday and Sunday I had a little bleeding but not much so I decided to call the doctor on Monday and told them I was worried. They reassured me that it is normal and that I could come in for an ultrasound to put my mind at ease on Tuesday.
Well, I go in for the ultrasound and the tech isn't saying anything and I didn't see a heartbeat. She said she was going to show the images to the doctor and would be back. She came back with the doctor and showed her more images on the ultrasound. Then the doctor told me that the baby has not grown and there is no heartbeat. Actually hearing this outloud made me bawl. Which I did the rest of the day. David was in NY and when I told him he got on the next flight home and a friend from the church came to stay with me until he got home.
David has been wonderful during this time. He has been encouraging me to eat and do things that I would not do while I was pregnant, such as eating hotdogs, chugging sweet tea, and riding my motocycle.

9 weeks 2 days

We met with the doctor on Thursday and asked her a ton of questions. My final due date is August 7. She also said that most miscarriages take place in the 6th and 7th week and that since we heard the heartbeat, we have a 90% chance of not having a miscarriage. Our baby is now about an inch long and movement should start this week, but I shouldn't feel it for about 2 more months. It's eyelids almost cover the eyes now and ears have been formed. The baby is about the size of an olive this week and will grow to the size of a plum next week.

Below are some belly pictures taken today. While in Houston David's grandmother told him to lose weight and his mother suggested that we take his belly picture with mine. He is not happy about the picture but hopefully it will help motivate him to lose the weight.

Our first ultrasound

We had our first ultrasound today and got to listen to the heartbeat. WOW! This was amazing. Our course David's first question was, "There's just one in there, right?" And yes, there is just one baby in there. The baby's heartrate was 167 so if you are going by an old wive's tale then the baby should be a girl, but I still think it's a boy. We also got to see a 3-D image of Baby Huang, which is the third and fourth pictures. They are currently estimating the due date as August 14, but that could change.
