Potty Training and Ice

Isaac has tried several times today to try to change his own diaper. Throughout the day when I would take it off he would attempt to put a clean one on. Then tonight after taking off his pants an hour before bedtime, which has become a nightly routine, he took off his diaper, brought it to me to show me it was wet, then took it to the trash. So I pulled out his potty and immediately he went pee on the potty. I cheered then less than 5 minutes later he peed on the carpet. So we put a diaper back on. 10 minutes later he takes it off, brings it to me to show me it's wet, then takes it to the trash. 5 minutes later I ask him if he needs to sit on the potty and he runs to it and goes poop! First time ever going poop on the potty. I cheer, empty it, clean it, set it down and he goes pee again. We repeat the peeing on the potty every 5 minutes, without prompting, until bedtime.
Since we have an ice storm right now and probably won't be leaving the house for a few days, I guess we'll be potty training. I really wanted to wait until he could say potty but I guess he has other plans.

31 Week Doctor Appt

Everything looks good so far. The doctor was happy that I've gained a few pounds and the baby was very active for her again. The heartbeat sounded great and my belly is still measuring big. The doctor is very curious as to how big this baby is, but she's guessing that it is smaller than Isaac was at this point. We'll see in two weeks.
How am I feeling? Glad you asked. I'm feeling so much better than I did with Isaac. At this point I was on medicine to stop preterm labor and on pregnancy house arrest with Isaac. I am getting contractions, but they usually come at night or if I've been walking/on my feet for awhile. If I lay down for an hour, they go away. The doctor says this is normal, especially for a second pregnancy. Since increasing the protein in my diet I've had less dizziness, but have noticed that my hands are swollen (I hope it's not just fat fingers). My feet did swell yesterday, but I'm attributing that to the heat and salty foods at Great Wolf.
I still don't feel pregnant, just obese. I am very excited but also starting to panic about the new baby. I feel like we're just going to go pick it up from the hospital in a couple months. I'm a little panicked because I know what we went through with Isaac, my world was turned upside down and I'm hoping that doesn't happen this time. I also have no idea how Isaac will adjust to this new baby too. I have no control over this and just need to pray and let this anxiety go.

Great Wolf Lodge & 31 week belly pic

We went to Great Wolf Lodge this weekend with some friends and had a great time. David played with Isaac in the water the entire time, while I read a book. It was so nice, but I only took pictures the first 5 minutes we were there. David was better about taking videos, so I'll post those later.
We got there around 2 and actually got into our room early, so I thought we'd try to nap since Isaac didn't nap in the car. An hour later we were at the water park and went the entire day without a nap. Surprisingly there weren't any meltdowns and he slept late the next day. I loved the buffets for dinner and breakfast, no planning meals or worrying if there is something on the menu for Isaac to eat.
Isaac had soooo much fun that when we got back home and started unpacking, he decided that he'd start packing his bag to go back. Too cute!

Learning to take off his clothes

He's mastered taking his pants off and does that several times a day now. He still trying to figure out how to take off his shirt, this technique shown in the picture does work with some shirts.

Story of Elijah

Loved yesterday's message and I encourage you to watch it here, go to the media player on the right side of the page. God provides!
Proverbs 30:8-9 ... give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, "Who is the LORD?" Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

29 week appointment

Giant gummy's heart rate sounded great. My belly is measuring big, which is somewhat surprising since I've only gained a pound since my last appointment. I'm curious to see exactly how big this baby is. The doctor pointed out that this time around my belly is wider, this might help some of you out with your old wives tell guesses. The doctor is guessing that it's a girl too. Maybe I should start looking into getting some mermaids to put on the nursery wall. I was told to eat more protein to help with the dizziness, double my heartburn medicine, and take more Tylenol for backaches unless I want to see a chiropractor. I'll see the doctor again in two weeks and we'll have an ultrasound in 4 weeks. I also barely passed my glucose test. Yay!

HTC Surround Windows 7 Phone Bzz

Bzz for the HTC Surround Windows 7 phone. I'm a bzzagent and occasionally review items that have been sent to me. I got this phone shortly after Christmas and played with it for a day. David requested the phone when I was done since he is currently carrying around two Blackberrys, one for work and one for personal calls. This review is my opinion and you might get a different take on the phone if you talk with David.

This phone made me feel old for several reasons. You'd think I'd feel old after just receiving news that two of my former students just had a baby, but that didn't do it. This phone did it. I did not read the manual, we simply put in my SIM card and started to check out its features. I had a hard time placing a phone call because it has so many programs on it. It is a definite step up from the Blackberry in terms of web browsing. It probably took me 5 minutes to figure out how to take a picture, which was frustrating since I easily found the camera on it. I just found this phone to be a little to high tech for me, but after talking with my sister it may just be the fact that it is a touch screen phone and I'm not used to that.

A positive for this phone is that we can watch Netflix on it, which is exactly what we did tonight at dinner. It was so nice, it almost like being on a date with David since Isaac was content on watching Shawn the Sheep while eating. A nice, peaceful dinner would not have been possible without this phone tonight since Isaac did not take a good nap. The surround sound speakers on it do make a difference. If it had just a regular phone speaker we wouldn't have heard a thing in this busy restaurant. The little stand on the back of the phone made it perfect for viewing a show.

S#*t My Kids Ruined

For some laughs check out this site. They also have a book that I'll be reading soon and will be happy to pass along.

Cookies

My little chef helped make chocolate cookies today. He thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate chips that spilled on the counter and then I caught him trying to take the chips out of the dough. A few hours later he was being very quiet in the kitchen, when asked what he was doing I heard the lid to cookie tin. I then found four or so cookies that had bite taken out of them. What a little stinker!

Why I Blog

I started this blog to share with family and friends far away what's going on with our little family. Then I had a miscarriage and found comfort in reading others' blogs. That was a huge help to me as my friends hadn't experienced this loss and a few members of church were a comfort at first, but I needed more. Although I still enjoy reading others' blogs, it now for mom advice and laughs.
I continue to blog to keep family and friends updated but the comments and encouragement keep me going. I wanted to give a shout out to my biggest fan, Julie. Thank you!

What a wonderful Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by some gifts, such as these from my step mom, Karen. Apparently she knows something we don't and she also got Isaac a case of scotch tape. I really thought my present from David was a washer and dryer, but he surprised me with an iPod on Christmas Eve and then an iPad on Christmas. Honestly I haven't touched the iPod since getting the iPad. Hopefully I'll pick it up again when the weather gets better. The iPad has been great and has actually improved my cooking, it's easy to use and compact. So it sits next to the stove with a web recipe helping me through dinner. Who know's what else it will help me with.

Eyeliner

This particular morning Isaac was watching me get ready to leave for our Bible Study class and one of those things he was really interested in was the eyeliner. He wanted to get his hands on it and color. Little did I know that me putting on eyeliner would leave a lasting impression on this handsome little boy. Fast forward a few hours, when I pick him up from his class he had pink marker straight across both of his eye brows. I couldn't get a good picture of it because it was faint, but I did get these handsome photos.
