All in a day's work

The morning was a little breezy but he was grinning ear to ear because he could actually go out and play with his toys. By the afternoon it was warm enough to go out without a coat! As you can see he loves his tools. David actually took him to volunteer to put together bikes Saturday and give mama a break. Isaac had a blast helping dad and using tools.

Surgery went well

The doctor said that he definitely needed this surgery after it was done. He was great before the surgery. I was worried about how he would be having to wait to have breakfast and drink, but he was so excited/hyper that he didn't ask for anything. It also helped that a friend let us borrow her portable DVD player, that we were late, and that they did the surgery early. Afterwards he was crying and inconsolable, but fell asleep in the car for the ride home. We tried to hold off on giving him milk because they told us he would vomit if he had it after anaesthesia, which led to him crying because he LOVES milk, which then led to his nose bleeding every time he cried. Overall he did great and because David was with me I wasn't too emotional. Thank you to all of you that called, text messaged, and commented on facebook. It meant a lot to know that all of you were praying for him.
A little funny story about yesterday. They gave him a teddy bear, which we didn't give to him until we were home and he was awake. Apparently he hates this teddy bear, because every time we've tried to give it to him he throws it to the ground as hard as he can. I'm pretty sure he associates the bear with the surgery.

35.5 week doctor appointment

I'm now seeing the doctor weekly. The baby has dropped even more and I'm anticipating it just being a couple more weeks. I'm really excited to meet this one and find out if it's a boy or girl. I'm having a hard time staying asleep and am not sure if it's anxiety or early signs of labor. For example I woke up at 1am Saturday with tons of energy and couldn't get back to sleep until 5am. I'm having a hard time focusing and organizing my thoughts too, which is making feel really unprepared for baby and house guests.

Crazy Weather

Friday we had a snow storm that left our windows covered in snow and our driveway a winter playground for Isaac. In his BSF class last week they had a mock snowball fight with hoses filled with cotton. Well he got to put his new skills into practice and loved it, until he realized his hands were cold.
Thankfully all the snow is now gone, but the snow storms have been replaced with thunderstorms and tornado sirens. A sign that spring is on its way here in Indiana.

35 week doctor appointment

Before I get to the doctor appointment, I'd like to share that Isaac's birth story is being featured over at Spearmint Baby today. Also the picture above shows what Isaac's been up to for the past couple of weeks, teething again. He is constantly chewing on his fingers and not eating much. Hopefully this will pass soon.

I have a c-section scheduled for March 24 and if I go into labor before then the doctor will still perform a c-section. I am currently 1cm dilated and am having contractions nightly. The last time I timed them they were 5 minutes apart and lasted about an hour. I'm taking Tylenol nightly to help relax my body and stop the contractions. So far it's working, but the doctor wants me to call her if the contractions last more than an hour. The baby has dropped and I have a feeling this one is coming before March 24, but we will see because it's all in God's hands. I'm very excited to meet this little one, but so very anxious because we aren't ready. Hopefully this weekend I'll have some energy to at least pack my bag and type up instructions for caring for Isaac.
One question I had for the doctor was about breastfeeding and a c-section. Does the body get confused and make it more difficult to breastfeed? Her answer, it depends on who you ask and it is more difficult because it takes longer to get the baby to the breast with a c-section. Anyone have any opinion or experience with this? I'd love to hear whether it worked or didn't work for you, just to try to prepare myself for what may be.

Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction

This is what Isaac was diagnosed with today at the eye doctor. He has a blocked tear duct and will be having surgery next Friday to have a probe put in and it will be removed in 6 months. He was awesome at the doctor today and even gave them a smile after they dilated his eyes. I think he thought it felt funny, especially since we've never had to give him eye drops. I know he'll do well next week, I'm more concerned on how I'll do seeing my baby go through this. I've been kind of an emotional mess lately.

I love this guy!

One of my friends offered to watch Isaac so David and I could go out on a date and we had a wonderful time. Dinner at the Melting Pot and a relaxing evening knowing Isaac was having a blast at his friend's house. It's been a long time since we've a date and it was much appreciated. It will probably be the last one before we are a family of four.
