Start of nursery decorating

Book Club Picks

My MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers) book club reads faster reads since we don't have that much down time to read, but I have found this is a great way to do something for myself that doesn't require trying to rearrange schedules with my husband so I can get out of the house. Our group recently read The Help. I loved the book and wanted more. So hopefully this author will come out with something soon. The book follows three women in the South and one woman is a housemaid. A wonderful book and I highly recommend it, I have it if you'd like to borrow it.
Next is Water for Elephants, the group had already read this one before I joined and I've heard good things about this book. So this turned out to be the my first ebook on my iPad and it just took a few days to read. I really liked this book even though in my opinion a little too much talk about sex. I'm really curious to see what the movie will be like. I heard that it will be out this summer and Robert Pattinson is in it. I'm pretty sure this will be a Mom's Night Out event for my MOPS group.

This month we are reading Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, which I recommended to group. I'm curious to see what the group thinks about it. This book was given to my by a friend and I have passed it on too. I really like the historical fiction stories and can't wait to read next months selection, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

Wicked

Just before Christmas David and I went to see this play and we both loved it. If you like the Wizard of Oz this is a must see. I was going to read the book by was told by one of my MOPS book club members that it was long and boring. We will probably go see this play again when it comes to town.

28 week doctor appointment

It went well. Baby's heart rate was 140. I'll do the glucose test on Monday to check for gestational diabetes. Hopefully this time I will pass so I won't have to do the 3 hour test. I will now see the doctor every two weeks! This pregnancy has really flown by. I'm now counting down the weeks until we get to meet this one. I'm saying there are 10 more weeks, because Isaac came at 38 weeks. So far in this pregnancy I've gained 17 pounds, which seem unreal when you look at my belly. I'd have to gain 30+ more pounds in the next 10 week to get up to the weight I was at with Isaac.
We're finally setting up the nursery and it's starting to seem real. Although it doesn't seem real that I'm pregnant. I continue to talk to Isaac about the new baby and he really enjoys playing with his old toys in the new babe's room. I'll post pictures as soon as we start decorating.

TWO YEARS!

I can't believe that I'm the mama of a two year old! We had his appointment today and he's doing great as far as the doctor is concerned. We will be going to an ophthalmologist to have Isaac's left eye checked out, it has teared since he was born and the doctor said that usually by 2 they like to see that it has cleared up. Also on the development sheet that they gave me he should say 100 words. Well, I've been counting for the past week and he says around 50. The doctor wasn't concerned, but of course I am. He suggested we get a hearing test, even though he thinks his hearing is fine, and give him a few months to see where he's at. He understands hundreds of words just doesn't use that many. For example he said cake at his party, but we haven't heard it since.
Weight: 34 lbs
Height: 36 inches; Not sure about this one, since that's how tall he was 6 months ago. I know he's grown at least a couple of inches, because he can now reach the sugar on the counter and my jewelry dish in the bathroom.
Head: 49 cm
Total Percentile: 97.5%

Party!!!

Isaac had so much fun with his friends this past weekend celebrating his 2 years of life. He loved helping dad blow up balloons to get ready for his party. Ever since his party he's been trying to get us to blow up more balloons. As you can see he also loved the black tires on his cake. His friend Kylie was a big help in bringing him presents. The Mr. Potato Head was a big hit with him, he was so excited he had to go show Graham's mom, Lindsey. Thank you friends for making his day by celebrating with us. We look forward playing and growing with you throughout this next year.

The cake

All David's idea, and it turned out great! We did learn not to use black on future cakes, it leaves a mark the day of and the day after.

Birthday Day

For Isaac's actual birthday we went to Monkey Joes and he had way too much fun with his dad. Next up was a visit to Once Upon A Child, where he got to play with a plethora of construction vehicles and picked out a few new tools. We ended the day with a small birthday cake for the entire family.
