Myrtle Beach with Granny

We were fortunate enough to have some awesome grandparents that book vacations for us.

And that play with the grandkids.

And go to Medieval Times on their wedding anniversary.

Hysterectomy and Menopause at 36

On June 13 I went in for a preventative laparoscopic total hysterectomy. All that week I spent in bed and got lots of visits from my boys. My mom came up to help take care of them and me.
Now I'm 5 weeks out and had my follow up. It turns out I'm still healing and they'll see me in 3 more weeks. I was really hoping I'd get released since school starts next week. Also since I set up my classroom the day before seeing the doctor thinking I was getting released.
Recovery has been fairly easy. I did have a minor set back a week after, where I was told to take it easy. Just some bleeding that was probably left over from surgery or possibly minor internal bleeding. The problem is I feel so good that I want to do stuff.
As for menopause, I'm only have a couple of symptoms. Hot flashes and dry skin. My vision is also worst, but the eye doctor thinks that it's residual from my surgery, that my body is tired and my eyes are compensating for the bad vision anymore.

Memorial Day at Crown Hill Cemetary

The gatling gun at Gatling's grave.

When we saw all these Jeeps David wasn't sure if we were allowed to park there since we weren't in a Jeep.

Every 20 minutes they would shoot off a canon.

100th Running of Indy 500 2016

Speedway Indoor Karting

They have an oval track and road track. I loved the oval track, especially since it was just David and I. I got a little motion sickness on the road track, but the road track is great for super competitive racers.

Indy 500 Mini Marathon

We did it! Mom completed her first half marathon and I survived my second. Lex of course beat us all to the finish line.

At the bricks on the race track.

Donors Choose

The last few years I've heard a lot about donors choose and been a little jealous that it wasn't around when I was teaching. Well, now that I'm back to teaching I'm couldn't wait to try it out and I my project got funded in less than a week! Now I'm hooked and already have another project up. Check it out at donorschoose.org/huang

Swim lessons

The kids did swim lessons again this year. They do better and better each year.

A look inside my class

This week we looked at toad tadpoles and researched them.

Petted chicks, which they thought were bald eagles.

Started our animal research projects.

Learned to measure around the room with inches and centimeters.
