Mrs. Miller

I am incredibly sadden that my assistant, Judy, passed on this week. She had a heart of gold and touched so many lives. I would not have survived teacher special education my first year in Indiana without her. I will miss our lunches and dinners together and her incredible stories.

Lakehouse

There are definitely times that I miss living here.

Greenville Zoo

These two are such a great pair. They had fun at the zoo, it was really nice to see all the animals up close. I think I like it better than the Indy Zoo.

Driving

One of the perks for visiting Granny and Grumpy is their long flat drive way. We have a short sloped driveway at home so he doesn't have much area to actually drive on. He was loving being able to drive himself and pick up random plant parts to put in his seat. While taking these pictures he would drive right up to me when I got down on his level.

Why fly when you can drive?

Isaac and I would have gotten to SC a lot quicker if we would have just flown, but my nerves would have been shot and I'd probably need some heavy drugs after landing. It took us 10 1/2 hours to drive down, which isn't too bad considering when he and I drove down last year it took us 12 hours. I much prefer driving since we can stop at McDonalds Playplace and Chickfila's indoor playground all along the way. We ended up stopping every 30 minutes to and hour between me using the bathroom and him needing snacks. It was difficult at first because I wanted to help him when he was telling me Uh oh, but if I stopped every time and helped him with what ever issue he was having we would have never made it out of Indiana. The trip was relatively uneventful, only one call the to on call doctor. By the time we got to SC Isaac had styled his hair with apple juice and was a sticky mess, but very happy. We also brought down a huge bag of tomatoes and cucumbers for the family.
So far Isaac's had a blast playing with Granny, Grumpy, and Pawpaw. So far I've only gotten pictures with Pawpaw, hopefully I get some of Granny and Grumpy dancing with him soon. Quick side note, the beans from his sensory box are sprouting.

18 month doctor appointment

Weight 30 lbs 12 oz, 94.5%
Height 35 7/8 in, 99.66%
Head 18 1/2 in, 27.9%

He's doing great! He's huge even though he's currently on the Adkins Diet, he's refusing to eat vegetables and fruit. His teeth look great, he's above average socially, and the doc was impressed that he's peeing on the potty at night. I'm concerned with his speech. He talks constantly, but I don't understand most of it and he's not using words he used to. He does have some new words though. Just not 20-50. So we are going to get evaluated for First Steps. Any thoughts on this?
I also asked the doctor his opinion on 2 year old preschool. His thoughts are that 2 year olds won't get as much out of it as 3 and 4 year olds, that's it mostly for socialization and that I might look into a playgroup or something like that once a week, which would be considerably cheaper.

Indoor playground Arrrrrrr

Lakeview church, here on the westside, is a little hidden gem. We've gone two times now in less than a week and have been the only people there. Isaac loves it and will actually go down the slides here. With the brown slide he didn't want to go down until I was at the bottom or if I was going down behind him. He thinks it's hilarious when I go down the slide.
