4 Year Anniversary

Hard to believe 4 years ago we were getting married! That day was spent on cloud 9. So very different from today, but I am very thankful for a loving husband that helps me clean up the toys at the end of the night and will even wash a few pots and pans to help out.

Isaac helped me make a little treat to go with the dinner that I planned to make for our anniversary. David came home with an edible arrangement, something I've been wanting ever since I saw their commercial years ago.

40 Degrees!!!

Isaac knew it was warm enough to play outside and brought me his snow boots. He had a lot of fun and I'm sure we'll be outside tomorrow too since it's supposed to get into the 50's. Since everything is finally starting to melt we are finding all sorts of treasures outside, including a steak knife, a Panera bag, and a McDonald's wrapper. I wonder what else the dogs have brought outside.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Wow, was I surprised. My husband surprised me with a card and earrings first thing in the morning then I had to go get ready for my doctor's appointment. While I was getting ready, Isaac came into the bathroom caring a flower, sniffing it and a card. He was adorable, I wish I had his entrance on video because I want to remember it forever. I love that my husband is teaching our son to be wonderfully thoughtful. Then as Isaac and I were leaving I noticed the flowers in the kitchen. My husband is absolutely perfect for me, because I love surprises and he can keep these surprises a secret.
While David was at work, Isaac and I went to work making his valentine. Isaac loves using scissors and is getting really good at it even though he left handed. Also Isaac sort of helped make heart shaped rice krispie treats. He mostly ate marshmallows, but occasionally stirred.

33 week doctor appointment

I met with my doctor today and we talked about a concern that David brought up. David wants me to consider a c-section because of the 3rd degree tearing that I had from Isaac. I think his words were that he doesn't want me to wear diapers for the rest of my life. I though he was exaggerating until I talked with the doctor today. I guess it is a real possibility since reconstructive surgery for the anus and rectum are nearly as good as reconstructive surgery for the vagina. I had 3rd degree tearing into my sphincter with Isaac, which healed nicely. Luckily I did not having tearing into my rectum, which does not heal nicely. At this point in my pregnancy with Isaac he was in the 70 percentile, this baby is in the 79 percentile. The doctor is suggesting that I consider the option of a c-section, but she wants to make sure that I have no regrets with whatever option I choose. She did inform me that all of her patients that have had a c-sections after having 3rd or 4th degree tears said that recovery was a breeze. She also said that after a c-section most of her patients were off narcotics within 10 days and that I would definitely need help for two weeks. She informed me that she likes to do c-sections in the 39 week and threw out the date of March 24. I guess this is God's way of answering my prayer about not looking forward to labor with an enormous baby. Those stretch marks really do show up when using a flash, yuck! They are now multiplying daily, double yuck!

Taking an interest

At the doctor's office Friday Isaac started taking an interest in baby dolls. At the office they have one that moves and makes sounds. I saw him put it in a chair and push it up to their magnetic table. He was also playing with it when they called me back, but he just threw it down and ran for the nurse when she called us. At home on Saturday, while David was rearranging his room Isaac dumped all the blocks out of his dump truck and put a couple of my old dolls in it and proceeded to run around upstairs crashing them into every wall. I'm glad he at least made sure they had their blanket with them.

33 week ultrasound

Today I am 32 weeks and 5 days pregnant with this enormous baby that is weighing 5 lbs. 2 oz. and measuring 34 weeks 1 day. This enormous gummy bear is measuring 10 days ahead of schedule and weighing about the same as Isaac did. When I hear 5 lbs., I asked her again what she said. I wasn't prepared or expecting that. This baby has very chubby cheeks already.
For comparison, here is Isaac at 34 weeks. I did not get to see the doctor today because she had to go off to a delivery, so I'll see her Monday. The baby's heart rate was great and it had plenty of fluid to play in. I asked if there was excess fluid and she said mine is in the normal range at 22 when they like it to be between 5 and 30. This babe was not cooperative, just like Isaac at this point, in letting us see its face. It took awhile but we did get a glimpse. We didn't get a good look at the mouth because there was either a cord or a hand in front of it the entire time. I do believe I saw a dimple though. I also got to watch gummy make a fist and punch me. After we went back into the waiting room, Isaac lifted up my shirt to get another look at my belly. Too cute.
How am I feeling? Big! I can't fit between the washer and the utility sink anymore. So I've trained Isaac to put clothes in the washer for me. I get tired easily, but I'm not sure if that has to do with how big I am or how bad I'm sleeping at night, especially since I can't sleep in my own bed due to the construction. So far I've gained a little over 25 lbs, which is pretty good. Especially since I ate an entire box of fudge rounds Monday. I'm getting tired of pushing the protein but notice a huge difference when I've eaten enough. My feet aren't swelling yet, but I have a weird rash on my arm that comes and goes. Overall I feel SO much better than I did with Isaac at this point.

What's an Ice Dam?

Well we discovered the hard way this weekend what an ice dam is and I hope we never see one again. Last week we had quite a bit of ice and then got a lot of snow on top of it Saturday. The snow was beautiful but very hard to get around in. Luckily a roofer came out Sunday to spend hours chipping away the ice from our roof. Now to start repairing the inside.

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, and the Potty

The good is that Isaac came up to me in the kitchen today with his shirt lifted up and then lifted my shirt and said baby! The bad, these contractions! Monday night they were so bad I was in tears and called the doctor, luckily they went away after a couple of hours. These contractions are way worse than what I experienced with Isaac. I'm not looking forward to labor with this one. The ugly was discovered this morning, new stretchmarks. Because this baby is higher than where Isaac was, the stretchmarks are higher than the ones from Isaac. Yuck. As for potty training, that took a backseat today. We had our class at the library and I was on top of asking him as often. Even while we were home I had a lot to get done today, so I wasn't watching him like I had the past few days. He's still doing pretty good, but I have to watch him and prompt him throughout the day. I've also found that accidents usually happen before sleep times.

Potty Training Day 3

Today started out pretty good, he went poop on the potty again! I tried out training pants with little characters on them that disappear when you pee in them and he did great until right before nap time. We even had a couple of friends over to play and he didn't have an accident the entire time they were here. Overall a good day and it looks like we'll be stuck at home again tomorrow because this ice just won't melt and David's put me on pregnancy house arrest.

It's now the year of the rabbit. Our kids are going to be year of the rat and year of the rabbit, I hope those two get along.

Potty Training Day 2

Not as successful as Day 1 and would love some suggestions. He does great when he's not wearing anything on the bottom half. When he's wearing underwear he pee in them right after peeing on the potty. He'll even play in the puddle he made, I have him clean it up though. Is he not ready for underwear or do we just need to get some that he really cares about and doesn't want to to get wet? Shortly after taking these pictures he peed and was fine walking around and playing in a wet shirt and underwear. Overall, I'd say he's doing great 2 accidents in underwear and 1 accident on the floor.

Potty Training Day 1

Since we are iced in I took advantage of the time home and have been potty training Isaac. Today he spend the day in just a shirt and babylegs. He's peed and pooped on the potty all day, with the exception of one accident. I've been prompting him by asking every 30 minutes if he needed to potty and by the end of the night he was running to use the potty on his own! Hopefully tomorrow we can work on wearing underwear.
